Obviously, this doesn't work with custom hoods, if you delete them, there's no getting them back.

You can also delete the Neighborhoods folder itself and the next time you start the game, it will regenerate all the hoods like it was the first time. Next time you start the game, it will regenerate the hood like it's was the very first time, so it essentially 'resets' the hood. You can go into your C:UsersPublicDocumentsEA GamesThe Sims™ 2 Ultimate Collection location and delete the hood from the 'Neighborhoods' folder. If it's one of the main hoods that came with the game (Pleasantview, Belladonna Cove, ect), you don't have to reinstall anything. If your game is crashing when you enter a lot, I would say that you probably downloaded something that conflicted with what you already had and it caused some nasty problem that may not be worth trying to fix - again, unless your hood is really important to you, in which case you may have to settle in for a while.

If you are attached to the hood in some way, there are ways to go about fixing things with SimPE or using Pescados bat box, but it's really hard to tell unless you've done some known thing to corrupt your hood (like delete a sim from the sim bin) until it starts showing itself. CC is a different bird with TS2 and lots of the lessons are unfortunately taught the hard way. In my defense, I am not aware of any cc testing tool like Sims 3 does.ĭo you think it might have caused corruption? And is there any other way to fix it than reinstalling/repairing it? My Origin does not work properly so yeah. I guess I learned my lesson about carelessly downloading junk. I really don't know what I should do, my game was running fine before I added those lots. I removed every piece of cc that was downloaded with the lots (which I bulldozed), I was able to go to a lot with no problem, but going back home caused the game to crash. Either way, they will be named xyz123456sspppaqqq regardless, so I don't bother with trying to find them in their folders. It's been so long and I've got my own ways of fiddling with stuff. Most of the time, hunting bad cc is a matter of pulling everything out of your downloads folder and slowly adding things back in until you find which item is causing a conflict/issue.Įdit - now I can't remember if lots go into the teleport folder or the lots folder.

I also use a custom test hood where I try out new mods/lots before I dump them into my real hood, that way I don't risk ruining my actual game with some poorly coded mod or junk lot, but that's just because I have some older neighborhoods I'm not willing to risk going up in flames. It really helps find bad cc/hacks if you have subfolders for things like 'hacks' and 'clothes' and whatever that already know work well and a subfolder for 'new' or 'testing' so bad cc is easy to track down.

On a somewhat related note, do not ever delete a sim ingame from your sim bin using that trash can because you will corrupt your hood and once you've done that, it's all over for your hood.Īnd in case you didn't already know, you can use subfolders in the TS2 download folder. I usually delete lots I don't want ingame (there's a trash can in the lot bin) because nothing is named in any kind of recognizable way in the teleport folder. The exception is lots, those go to your teleport folder.

sim2packs usually install everything to your downloads folder. Add that to a town filled with huge, long lots and you've got yourself a freezefest.

No wonder why it was crashing like crazy. Jeez - I got rid of 586MB and 1391 files in one session. sims2packs? I'm currently in the process of deleting all recently downloaded lots/cc using Delphy's Download Organizer.
